ECCLESIASTICUS 1:17-20 (The Jerusalem Bible, 1966)
She fills their whole house with their heart’s desire
and their storerooms with her produce…
The crown of (Sophia) makes peace and health flourish…
The Lord has showered down learning and discernment with her
and exalted the renown of those who hold her close.
Reflection from Prayer Team Member – Mary Carol Tazewell
Bridget Mary Meehan says, “Sophia is both teacher and the message which is taught. Sophia is not only someone to be attentive to, she is someone to possess.” What are the desires of our heart? What gives us peace, health, learning, discernment? What other gifts might be in our storerooms?
Devote some time reflecting on Sophia’s gifts. What brings peace to our lives? A gentle breeze, a quiet meadow, the roaring ocean? What do we do to nourish our health? Physical exercise, eating well, sleeping well? What are we learning? Is it intellectual, from the heart, experiential? How is discernment shaping our decisions? Are we letting life live us or are we investing energy, practice, and time into our journey?

Ask Sophia to shower down peace, health, wisdom, insight, and understanding to fill your storeroom. Allow Sophia to shower down love so to truly seek your heart’s desire. Hold her closely. Possess her. Invite her to be the light that shines from within.
